My Students

I am a special education teacher in an elementary school with students PreK-8. I currently teach seventh and eighth grade. All of the students I teach have unique needs. I feel all students deserve a chance to excel especially after our difficult pandemic year plus of limited learning.

My students have significant developmental delays including severe learning disabilities, autism, or other social-emotional difficulties.

My students are included in some classes of their peers with my support.

My kids are from low-income areas. They work hard and are eager to learn. We are an excellent STEM school with wonderful student scholars and very dedicated teachers and staff. As with most schools, our budget is limited.

My Project

For this project I did not simply look for item I thought my students would need or enjoy instead I let my students actually pick out cold weather Items of their choosing to request. They requested ski caps and hats that they would be very excited to get to have. Each student took their time looking though all the possible choices and made their requests.

My students lack cold weather items that they need.

I hope they are able to secure these items soon as these Chicago days are getting colder and colder.
