Broadening Our World With Books

Help me give my students 50 new, great selection of nonfiction books and the newest fiction books from our favorite series.

My Students

I have a group of 24-second graders who live in New Mexico. Our classroom is bright with many smiling faces. Every student in our classroom receives free or reduced-price breakfast. No matter students' life situations, students find a safe, nurturing, and loving environment in our classroom. It is also a place where I try to provide my students with many opportunities to learn creatively, courageously, and collaboratively.

My students are wonderful students who are energetic and enthusiastic about learning.

My group of second graders are filled with excitement for learning and reading. Whenever we move to our reader's workshop time, many of my students cheer because they have looked forward to this time of the day.

My Project

New titles, new genres, and more of our favorites- these additions to our library keep students sparked and excited about reading. Our books circulate through 25 student book bins every day. It is so important to develop an ever-growing library filled with a wide range of books- classics and new.

Our school provides zero dollars towards new books for students so our classroom library is dependent on donors and personal funds.

Many of these books in this project are the newest nonfiction books. My classroom library lacks a wide range of nonfiction selections and I am hoping to expose my students to these biographies, historical picture books, and science books. The fiction books are other newest released books that are part of our favorite series.

I always love to see the affect new books have on my students' growing love for reading. I am especially excited to see a developing love for nonfiction books in my classroom.
