I am teaching 20 incredibly talented second graders in Gallup, New Mexico. Most of my kids are Native American. We are a title 1 school and the entirety of my class receives free lunch. My projects are to equip my students with a research-based, resource-filled instruction and exploratory so they are prepared to be active members in their community. I am passionate reading teacher and I believe quality literature needs to be in the hands of my children in all parts of our reading instruction. I am a project-based math teacher because it enables kids to see how math connects to the real world and empowers them to solve challenging problems. I am a writer's workshop guru because I get to witness young authors making books and sharing their stories with an audience. But most importantly, my classroom is a place for my students to feel safe, uplifted, empowered, brave, and confident in their talents and who they are.
