This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

I have had the pleasure of working as an educator with the same district for more than a decade. It has brought me happiness to experience and be a part of the great achievement the school district has made with academic achievement. Overall, the students I service are the most fragile students, and schools are closer to academic proficiency than ever before. One area that is lacking is the Social Emotional Learning.

My students want to learn, but are often distracted by external stimuli and circumstances beyond their control.

The reality is that our schools is situated in a poverty-stricken, crime-ridden neighborhood. Our students are often products of generational struggles they cannot readily comprehend. Development in Social Emotional Learning would provide a foundation for me.

My Project

As a teacher it is my job to ensure my students have a safe environment to ensure learning can take place. One of my focus is to tap into students' creativity. One of this year's focus is on writing and what a good way to have students express themselves, through illustrations.As I teach students how to bring their stories to life, I can also focus on visualization.

Turning my students into illustrators is an exciting idea.

Being able to motivate students and to create a special place for kids to become creative is very exciting.Teaching my students how to create pictures in their minds as they write is phenomenal.

The Cricut will assist in helping my students create the cover of their books and provide different ways to illustrate.
