My Students

My students are brilliant, motivated children who face a daily battle with physical and cognitive disabilities. Every single one of my students has an IEP or 504 plan, and they never stop pushing themselves, working hard, and advocating for their own needs. They dream of learning the skills necessary to survive in today's fast-paced world.

When asked how it felt to be the smartest man alive, Albert Einstein said, "I don't know, you'll have to ask Nikola Tesla." Tesla, the inventor for countless devices that assist modern day life, was himself, Autistic.

With the proper resources and training, he achieved greatness, and affected all of humankind. I truly believe my students have the same potential.

My students need access to the scientific knowledge and experiences that will enable them to take AP science classes in high school, be accepted into top universities, and contribute to the scientific discoveries of the future. With your help, we can acquire the tools and skills necessary to reach those goals.

My Project

As 6th graders, my students need guidance, but also like to be independent. By utilizing Amazon's Echo, we'll be able to increase student's accountability and independence, while also teaching them valuable social skills (such as appropriate speaking speed, enunciation, and waiting until the speaker - Alexa - is finished speaking before talking again). By utilizing the Amazon Buttons, we'll be able to run review games and trivia competitions to boost class participation and engagement.

The items in this project are tools that will be used to further scientific understanding and engagement.

By incorporating hands-on learning and technology, this project will help bring science to life! Atomic molecules can be built and explored, we can test how pollution affects the water cycle, and explore the phases of the moon in a close-up, hands on environment.
