My Students

I teach at a Title I school, where I spend a lot of my own money on furniture and supplies for my classroom. My school district does not have extra funds for curriculum supplies, or for extra materials and furniture. Our poverty level is high. More than 75% of our students are eligible for free or reduced-price lunch.

My students, despite what they don't have at home, come into school every day eager to learn with smiles on their faces.

They look forward to coming into school and learning in a safe environment. We strive to do our best and work hard!

My Project

I plan to do a more play based learning in my kindergarten classroom. Students learn more with hands on activities. Through play, I want to focus on students oral language and their social and emotional skills. I plan to have a dramatic play are with a kitchen set up with a kids table, dress up clothes, play phone and pretend food. I would like to incorporate themes each month and include a grocery store, pizza restaurant, vet clinic and post office. I would also like to teach them about community helpers. I am in need of some of these items in order to bring this to life!
