This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

In a world language classroom, color is not just a decoration; it is a critical tool for language acquisition and cultural literacy. A classroom color printer will directly enhance our Project-Based Learning units by empowering students to create authentic cultural artifacts, visual vocabulary builders, and comprehensive cultural portfolios. By bringing our curriculum to life, this printer will transform abstract language concepts into vibrant, tangible learning experiences. This printer will be an absolute game-changer for equity and inclusion in our classroom.

Currently, students without access to color printing at home feel ashamed when comparing their black-and-white printouts to a classmate's color project.

Providing a Wi-Fi-enabled color printer directly in the classroom levels the playing field. Students will be able to print independently and seamlessly from their devices, eliminating the social discomfort of asking for special permission. Furthermore, this specific model features eco-friendly, refillable ink bottles instead of expensive cartridges, ensuring a long-lasting and cost-effective resource for years to come.

With your support, our students will be able to take full ownership of their cultural and linguistic education. A classroom color printer will elevate our coursework in 3 distinct ways:

Authentic Cultural Artifacts: Students will design professional travel brochures and vibrant cultural altars that accurately reflect the rich colors of the traditions we study.

Visual Vocabulary Building: Instead of spending limited class time coloring black-and-white worksheets with colored pencils, students will design and print high-quality infographics, clipart, and comic strips to internalize new vocabulary.

Comprehensive Portfolios: End-of-semester portfolios will finally showcase vibrant, color-printed reflections of student interviews, traditional dishes, and regional celebrations—a crucial element of pride.
