My Project

Second graders have the most creative minds. Most of the them need help pulling those ideas out to tell the story. Presenting a mentoring text, not only shows students how someone else did it, but it also opens a good discussion on how they can do it too.

Horrible Bear, is a great mentoring text for reading.

I can teach students how illustration, text clues and schema to infer character's feelings. But in writing, I can use the same book how words and illustrations show readers how they feel or their character feels.

It only takes one good example to get the creative juice flowing!!
