This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My 4th graders live and learn in the heart and soul of West Baltimore on the infamous Pennsylvania Avenue. Decades ago, Pennsylvania Avenue served as the epicenter of Baltimore's Black community. And most recently the home of uproars and protest following the death of Freddie Gray. Many coming from low-income, single parent households, at very tender age have experienced more violence and hardships than some might in a lifetime.
Although I may not be able to erase the pains of their pasts I can equip them with the necessary skills to be change agents of their future.
As their teacher I not only teach them the academic skills they need to be successful but also develop the character and grit they'll need to navigate the real world. In donating to our classroom you too are investing in the future of Baltimore by ensuring students have the resources necessary to access the classroom instruction. We appreciate your support, and know no contribution is too small to make better happen in the lives of our future leaders and change agents.
Donations to this project will make a huge difference to my students learning. It's no secret that everyone has different or preferred learning styles. In donating to our project you will be stocking our classroom with an host of manipulatives and resources to help ALL students access the content.
To help meet the individual learning needs of all students it's extremely important to allow students access to a diverse means to the same ends.
Fair isn't everyone getting the same thing but everyone getting what they need to be successful; and through funding our project you are ensuring my student have what they need to be successful.
