This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

This year I was given a new course to teach, Oceanography! This course has NOT been offered at my school, making me the FIRST to teach it! I just finished the first semester and I am VERY excited to introduce new ideas, activities and labs to my students.

This first semester teaching Oceanography was kind of a trial for me, I used a lot of resources that were at my disposal- but I wanted to make the class a little more engaging than just worksheets or videos and I created my own labs and stations!

This project will not only provide my students will real-life samples for them to examine, but also a specimen (squid) that they can dissect! I took a lot of time this semester learning the content/material, so I'm looking forward to getting to HAVE FUN with my students. For example, when we learn about Multicellular Algae/Seaweed I want to provide them with a little Seaweed Snack for them to try!
