My students need the materials listed, as it would provide them the opportunity for a hands-on learning approach, as I am a Literacy Interventionist, and we tend to work in empty spaces throughout the school!
As a Literacy Interventionist, having the opportunity to work hands on with scholars in grades 3-8, I am extremely fortunate that my scholars are a group of diverse, intelligent and loving individuals. They attend public school in a district with 99% free lunch and many come from difficult homes, looking for a safe escape and caring environment in their classrooms and throughout the school day. They face challenges every day and yet, continue to come to school determined to better themselves!
My Project
With only a small office, I tend to work with my students in non classroom environments when providing their literacy interventions.
The travel white board, along with the clipboards will allow me to create a classroom environment, regardless of where I am in the building.
The colored pencils will provide us the opportunity to color code our tools for literacy strategies: identifying important information, difficult vocabulary and phonological awareness. While traveling and working with multiple groups of students a day, having the ability to laminate my reading materials ensures that they will last for years to come! The chart paper allows us to save our work from a day to day basis, display literacy strategies and create anchor charts to assist with the literacy interventions.
