This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My scholars are incredible! They LOVE learning, creating, designing, using their imaginations, and working collaboratively.
My class is a Title I, magnet class for scholars with a high ability or gifted identification.
For the past 3 weeks, my scholars have consistently attended zoom instruction three times per week, completed assigned lessons, practiced various skills on virtual sites and completed activities assigned digitally. But they are missing the opportunity to think-pair-share, to have attend bookclub meetings, create monthly team names, write group stories and lots of other group activities. Keeping them excited and eager learners is challenging .
My Project
I never would have imagined I would be teaching from home, while my own children are learning from home, and my husband is working from home too. My children are 'in class' in the dining room, my husband is working in our bedroom, and I am huddled in a dark corner of our living room.
The ring light will allow my students to see me and the books I share.
The large whiteboard will assist during direct instruction. I am currently using chart paper that refuses to stay on the wall, even with tape! My students really want to create both group and individual books. The book binding machine will allow us to complete the final step of the writing process, publish.
