This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Throughout each day I am privileged to work alongside 23 Kindergarten and First grade special education students. My students come from an underserved community where they often do not receive the items needed to help them focus and learn. A great impact on their learning is the inability to calm the inner storm of their minds and bodies. Sensory supplies within our classroom will provide an outlet and break in the storm.

We need supplies to help these amazing children calm this storm and gain focus on learning.

I am requesting a small trampoline to provide these children with an outlet for the excess energy building up in themselves. The weighted blanket provides a deep hug that every child needs when things become too much. At some time, we have all found ourselves bouncing our legs as things become too much or anxiety too great. The desk bands will provide these kids with an outlet for these feelings without distracting the learning of others. Finally, the requested fidgets will help these students focus their minds and concentrate while tending to the needs of the students and their need to move.
