Mrs. Ragland from Washington DC is requesting Computers & Tablets through DonorsChoose, the #1 classroom funding site for teachers.

Bringing 21st Century Technology to Our Classroom

My students need 6 student laptop computers to access the many fantastic online resources available in Math and Language Arts.

My Students

My students are mostly African American, with some blends and other ethnicities, too. Though most of my students come from the lower rungs of the socioeconomic ladder, they are working hard to get the education needed to be successful in our world.

If I had to choose one word to describe my students, it would be resilient.

They work hard daily, are ready to learn, and don't let setbacks hold them back. They are amazingly clever and always interesting. I am grateful every single day to be able to work with some of the finest minds in the city.

My Project

My students need reliable technology (specifically 6 working laptops) in order to use Khan Academy, IXL, and Summit online tools to fast-track their content knowledge and opportunities for mastery. There are so many great online tools for kids that we can not use because we do not have adequate working computers.

Having access to laptops will allow students to work on many different levels, allowing some to catch up, and others to move ahead of grade level.

That kind of differentiation makes for rapid growth, which is what we really need here, where we have such a variety of abilities and experiences all in the same classroom. Please help us bring our classroom up to 21st century technology standards with our own computers.
