My students are working hard to catch up to grade level in a small opportunity academy that serves only eighth grade students. Many of these kids need some intensive remedial instruction in order to prepare for a successful high school experience. Others need support developing coping skills and strategies to best meet their daily challenges. Most of our students are quite bright; they just haven't had the opportunities or positive life experiences needed to make the best choices. These kids, like all kids, deserve to feel safe and prepared to learn each day. We are working to give them every opportunity available.
