Mrs. Patterson from Winston Salem NC is requesting technology through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need these 2 Google Nexus 7 tablets to enhance their educational experience, while simultaneously teaching them how to be 21st century learners.

In order for students to compete in a global society they must know how to use technology. My county is piloting a new program called Bring Your Own Device; this allows students to bring an educational device into the classroom. However, many of my students cannot afford to buy their own device.
I teach some of the most amazing students.
They come from many different countries (Burma, Mexico, Indonesia, etc) and they speak a number of different languages. I have learned that my students learn best when they are able to interact and be fully engaged in learning. Our school is a Title I school, which means that most of my students come from low-income households and they don't have access to many non-essential resources on a daily basis.
By having these 2 Nexus Tablets, my students will be able to create multimedia presentations, use Google Docs/wiki to hold student driven discussions about a book, research topic, or use one of the numerous applications to help them master their multiplication/division facts. The tablets will not only enhance my students learning, but it will change their lives, by teaching them to think outside of the box. A tablet is the perfect educational tool to help them utilize their own creativity, while giving them a sense of independence and the ability to construct their own learning.
This will be my first year teaching 4th grade and with your support, I believe that you will help my students see school and learning in a different light.
They will learn the skills that they need to be a 21st century learner and they will ready to compete in our global society. Please take this opportunity to put an educational tool in the hand of a student that truly needs it.
