This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are goofy, silly, funny, emotional, frustrated, energetic, impulsive, and craving someone to care about them. My classroom consists of ten students with special needs and fifteen students of mixed English Language Learners and general education students.
This makes it difficult to meet the various needs of the students in my classroom.
I do my very best to make each child feel special and that they can do it. My school has a very large population of low socioeconomic students, as well as children in shelters. It would be great to give these students a chance and an opportunity to meet their optimal potential.
My Project
Having multiple Microsoft surface Pros in our classroom will create student-drive centers. Having technology at the base of science and math research projects centers will make their exploration journey that much more exciting. The Surface Pros will allow my students to imagine in creative ways. Having a Surface Pro Station will give my students the freedom and flexibility to try, where just paper and pencil can be intimidating.
We are doing our best to create innovative, fun cooperative learning groups based on technology.
My students will use the Surface Pro to read books together, work on their mathematics by engaging in problem solving tasks as a group, create collaborative pieces of art, and have access to visual aids whenever they need the additional support. My students will be able to tackle difficulties with their fine motor skills and coordination. Not only will this make learning fun, but this will greatly address the special needs in my classroom. It will greatly benefit those who are English Language Learners, living with Attention Deficit Disorder and those who are solely visual and tactile learners.
