Help me give my students interactive activities. With the Teachers Pay Teachers gift card I can purchase digital adapted books and file folder activities to print, laminate, and Velcro the pieces to make them interactive.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I have the honor of teaching 6th thru 9th- grade students in a low-income, poverty-stricken area. My class has varying disabilities including intellectual, physical, autism, Down syndrome, behavioral, emotional, communication, seizures, vision, and hearing loss.
Virtual learning has been a blessing and a curse.
I am a firm believer in working with families to support students in the home as well as the classroom. Working virtually with my students’ families creates real-life learning opportunities that would not be possible in the classroom.
My students require hands-on materials with many different types of manipulatives that they can feel and move. With the right resources, encouragement, and affirmation my students will succeed.
My Project
Items will be sent home with students to enhance virtual learning and active participation. This will allow them to experience hands-on-learning with their family under my guidance.
These materials will allow me to create many hands-on picture, letter, and number activities they also provide a common language with which to communicate their understanding to me, their teacher.
Currently, my non-verbal students, answer questions with simple yes and no cards. With your help, my students will be given the ability to make choices and learn with materials they can feel and move.
