Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
How can I help my students? My students, 8th graders in New York City are starving for engagement. Many come from low income house-holds and have a genuine interest in the science topics I cover. For example, my students were researching different natural resources and were excited to see a real solar panel. Imagine the amount of good you can do when you partner with me.
Too many of my students go home and are miserable in their low income households.
Many of my students are ELL's and have IEPs. When I ask them about their vacations, they tell me that they did nothing and were bored. This makes me sad. Let's work together to change this now!
My Project
Many of them are discouraged and do not see a bright future. One of my students said to me, "Mr. Frank, I have never traveled outside of my neighborhood. My parents are poor and I am afraid I will never be able to experience the world." This saddened me because I would like to make a difference.

Our world is filled with experiences waiting to occur. Finally, we have a chance to make this difference through the technology of virtual reality. Can you imagine students excited as they put on their google virtual reality glasses and tour the hot springs in ice land? What about taking a virtual hike through the Himalayas to discover the rock formations? Perhaps they could take a virtual tour of the Galapagos Islands as they search for exotic animals.
