My students need a laptop, router and printer to explore virtual field trips, use math and reading virtual learning bridges, and research our wonderings during learning time.
Can you imagine if you did not have technology at your finger tips. The students in my classroom need more opportunities to research and learn using computers.
Since our school is a site for ELL (English Language Learners),our students come to us from all over the world and also right here in our own community.
Within our classroom we currently have 10 students from different parts of the world. The diversity within our classroom makes for a wide range of learners. The students are very curious about different cultures and have a very diverse learning styles.
My students live in a low economic area. 100% of my class eats free in the cafeteria. These students are very bright and eager to learn. I want to share the world outside of their small community and let them see the possibility that are out there for them.
My Project
Within our daily learning we often come across things the students are curious about or have questions about. As a teacher, this curiosity makes for great discussion and extends our learning. I would like to use the laptop to teach my students how to use the computer as a tool to research these questions on their own. The laptop would also be used to connect to our LCD projector to project different websites, virtual field trips, etc on our classroom screen.
Many children have never been to our nation's capital or seen the different wonders of the world. This would allow them to visit these places via technology. Our Math Curriculum also has what is called a visual learning bridge, which explains math methods in an animated way using a computer.
Many of my students still do not have any type of computer in their home which makes it hard for them to research or study using technology.
Having access to a laptop and printer within the classroom would open a whole new world of learning to my students. This opportunity of technology will not only develop their minds and education, but will prepare them for a world that thrives on technology.
