Bring Students With Autism Closer While Distance Learning!

Help me give my students fun, interactive video lessons using a large magnetic dry erase board, dry erase markers, eraser and cleaner, magnetic sight words, and a large, colorful magnetic calendar.

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

The medical response to Covid-19, the stay at home order, and distance learning has become our new reality, a reality that we did not expect, and that we were not prepared for.

I teach an amazing group of students with autism and other low-incidence disabilities.

Communication and socialization have always been major challenges for my students, who are visual learners, but learning at home has really increased my need to target these skills and to find creative new ways to achieve success.

Over the past several years, my classroom was so fortunate to have received teaching materials and resources through generous donations from donors like you on DonorsChoose. Now that we are distance learning, with daily live video conferencing sessions, my students and I need your help to face these new challenges.

My Project

My students are visual learners and need colorful engaging visuals during our live video sessions. While I had a large magnetic dry erase board, with endless magnetic visuals at school, I do not have that amazing resource at home and am in desperate need of these supplies to boost our daily video chats.

The large, magnetic dry erase easel, magnetic interactive calendar, colorful markers, and magnetic sight words will really draw my students into our virtual video lessons so that they will be more engaged during this challenging time!
