What happens when a child can't use words to communicate? Frustration, crying, and tantrums are common -- it is so challenging for children when they cannot express their wants and needs. I teach a population of students who face this unique obstacle and are struggling to overcome it. My students have autism, and have few, if any, words. Due to the nature of their disabilities, my 6-9 year old students have been placed in a self-contained primary autism classroom, and it is my goal as their special education teacher to teach my students to communicate. Our school is located in a high-need, large urban community in Illinois, and your donation will really make a difference in my students' lives!
