My Project

The desire to be loved, wanted, heard, and seen: this is the tale of the creature in Mary Shelley's classic novel, Frankenstein.

I have been teaching the original text to AP Literature students for nearly a decade, and now I'd like to bring this brilliant abridged version to my beloved 10th graders.

While the original 1818 text is fabulous in its own right, my sophomores are not quite ready to handle the stodgy language. This abridged version would bring the story to life in a manner that's accessible, and allow them into a world that begs the question: just because we can, should we?

I will use this class set to teach six sections of 10th graders.
