My Students

Hello! I am entering my 2nd year of teaching in an Autism program. I am delighted to report that last year's start to the program was very successful! Donors were able to supply the class with essential supplies that allowed myself and classroom aids to provide support for our students.

I am supporting 12 students who have Autism and/or Intellectual Disability.

In our class, my students work on modified academics, social skills, daily life skills, functional skills, as well as emotional regulation. We are a diverse class in a big middle school! My students are energetic, strong willed, and hard workers. We are excited for another awesome year!

My Project

As a special education teacher, you learn to explore all the different ways to meet your students needs. At times, the workload is daunting and the steps to bring in fun and creative learning paths can be huge obstacles when you do not have all the wonderful resources at your hand.

At this time, our school has very limited paper, printers, reliable copy machines, and ink to supply the teachers.

I make a lot of my own materials to differentiate instruction and I need reliable resources to do this. As a special education teacher I am required to print Individual Education Plans (IEP) and other reports when I have annual meetings to discuss my student's progress. Teaching becomes a bigger challenge when I do not have access to reliable printers and copy machines.

A new HP printer and ink for our old printer, will allow me to print curriculum, IEPs, and other visual resources. With the new HP printer, I can enroll in InstantInk, which helps people save money on ink and delivers ink to you. This program is such a relief because current ink cartridges for my classroom printer cost up to $60+! With a new color printer and more color ink, I can create academic materials and print IEPs without any headaches.
