My students need tools essential for starting and maintaining a butterfly garden at our school, as well as seeds, informational texts, and butterfly feeders.

My Students

Flowers, Butterflies, and Insects! Oh my! Help the third and fourth graders at Nelson School experience learning outside of their classroom. We would like to start a beautiful butterfly garden to not only beautify our school building but to help increase student learning.

The third and fourth graders are fun, energetic, and love the great outdoors.

They learn together in a small school within a multi-grade setting. They are always looking for more opportunities to learn something new, connect with nature, and learn from one another. This butterfly garden will help children learn responsibility, caring for living things, scientific inquiry, appreciation of nature, and so much more!

My Project

Creating a butterfly garden will have a direct impact on all the students in the building. It would be a beautiful addition to our school and would attract many wonderful butterflies, moths, spiders, insects, birds, and many other beautiful creatures. They will learn how to manage and maintain a garden which will help broaden their appreciation for nature and those who care for it. Students will gain responsibility when learning how to care for the garden and will increase their creativity when planning for types of plants and ways to care for the garden. The students will be able to plan, care for, and maintain the garden. They will then be able to watch and observe the plants that are growing in the garden and the animal and insect species that come to visit and make the garden their home.

Donations to our butterfly garden would be greatly appreciated.

It will help us create a wonderful piece of art for our school grounds. Students, staff, and community members will all be able to learn, love, and enjoy this garden for years to come.
