Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am writing to express our need for support in acquiring essential classroom supplies for our 6th and 8th grade students.
As you may know, classroom resources play a vital role in fostering a conducive learning environment.
However, with the current budget constraints, we are facing challenges in providing our students with the necessary tools for their academic success.
One critical need we have is for pencils and pens. On average, my 150 students need an average of 6-10 new pens or pencils each day. With a 180 school days, this quickly adds up to a substantial amount of writing instruments needed throughout the school year. Unfortunately, many of our students come from low-income households and are unable to provide their own supplies, making it imperative for us to seek assistance from generous donors like you.
Additionally, I am in urgent need of a new pencil sharpener. Our current sharpener recently stopped working, and without a functioning sharpener, it becomes increasingly difficult to ensure that our students have sharpened pencils readily available for their assignments and assessments.
Furthermore, I incorporate Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) activities into our curriculum to support our students' holistic development. One of the activities includes daily journaling, where students reflect on their emotions, experiences, and personal growth. To facilitate this process effectively, I require journals for students. The journal pages serve as a platform for self-expression and are instrumental in promoting emotional awareness and resilience among our young learners.
