My students are creative, energetic, and kind! They absolutely love hands-on, engaging projects that allow them to learn, while interacting with others. They come to school each day ready to learn and grow, both personally and academically.
Students' data has proven that they learn best in reading centers, while interacting with others.
These centers allow me to pull and work with struggling students individually for one-on-one interventions. Each child in my classroom has a different learning style and reading level. As their teacher, it is my job to provide different learning environments and learning strategies.
My Project
For the fourth nine-weeks, my students will work together in small-group book clubs. We will have a "book tasting" classroom transformation day where students will be excited to enter the classroom, which has been transformed into a restaurant. This activity will introduce my students to new genres and book choices in a fun, creative way. At the end of the day, students will choose their top three books from the day. I will then divide students into book clubs based on reading level and novel preference.
Book clubs allow my students to have leadership roles within small groups, as well as, allows me to work with the students who need more one-on-one interventions.
By donating to our project, you will help buy the novels needed to start these book clubs. In the small groups, students will complete novel studies to assess our standards and create movie trailers to excite the rest of the class to read their book once it is in the classroom library! Your donation will help my students foster a love for reading.
