Bridging the Reading Gap

Help me give my students the chance to become bridge the gap created by COVID-19. These books will help me provide reading interventions for my students using researched-based techniques which have been proven to help students succeed.

My Students

I am so lucky because I get to spend every day with the most amazing group of first graders! They are smart, independent, and creative students. They work hard to learn from their mistakes and grow each and every day. These kids are spunky and full of personality. They are social and love helping each other learn. Unfortunately, due to the impacts of COVID-19, they are behind where they should be in reading. They missed out on the chance to learn important skills in preschool and then last year their kindergarten time was shortened. It is my hope that with extra interventions and help they will be able to succeed.

My Project

These books will be used to provide targeted reading instruction to my students. This will help them bridge the gaps in their reading created by COVID-19. These books are research-based and will help my students become fluent and effective readers quickly. This is their best shot at making up for their learning loss and being successful. We all know just how important literacy is and by providing these materials, my students will be strong readers who know how to read and are able to be successful, both in school and in life!
