This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am honored to teach a wonderful population of students. A majority of the students are English Language Learners (ELL), and my school serves as a host school for refugees coming from various places. I look forward to every day with my students, embracing the wonderful differences and experiences they each bring. I want my students to know they are valued, loved, and safe when they come into the classroom.

My Project

Our school is made up of students from all over the Vegas valley, and all over the world! Our students speak a variety of languages and are often frustrated because of the language gap. I don't want this language gap to put my students behind in their education.

I want to give my students the tools they need to be successful, regardless of their home language.

This translating tool will help my students be able to follow along and participate in our classroom. They will be able to be included in class discussions. This will also give me the opportunity to communicate more fully with them, as well as with the parents of my students.

Not only will this help my students and I be able to communicate, but it will also give us a tool to help learn other languages. My hope is that this will be a temporary tool as we begin to learn more and more how to communicate in multiple language.
