This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

As an ICT teacher, Ms. O does not have access to a smart board or any other technology when providing small group instruction to eight, grade four special needs students in a high needs district in the south Bronx. I am writing on behalf of Ms. O to seek support in securing tablets to supplement student learning with engaging activities that will attend to specific needs of her students.

The group of students Ms. O works closely with would be highly motivated when given opportunities to use technology to advance their learning in both math and literacy.

There are high interest, digitally-based educational programs available that can be used to supplement instruction to advance students' learning. Having access to these resources require technology not accessible to these students.

Obtaining eight tablets will allow Ms O to target students' specific needs using educational programs that will motivate resistant learners to remain on task and demonstrate growth.

My Project

Having access to technology will allow my high needs students to access a digitally based intervention program that will capture their interest and target their specific needs. This will help facilitate growth in reading performance.

The requested tablets will also be used to access a digital math program to assess students in math as well as supplement and differentiate instruction.

Having the tablets will assist in sustaining students' interest and help facilitate students' math achievement.

Providing Ms. O's special needs students with the much needed tablets will assist in keeping students focused and engaged to meet their instructional needs and demonstrate academic achievement.
