The students have all benefited from the resources. In one of my classrooms they use the sensory tunnel daily as part of their movement break after snack. It has addressed and supported social skills, play, and their motor skills. Students are able to crawl which provides heavy work and weightbearing into their upper extremities which supports hand development and integrating both sides of their body which supports learning. They are also working on their playskills and joint attention playing games with staff such as chase and peek-a-boo. The joy from staff and students is contagious. \r\n\r\nThe lycra tunnel has been used in the gym when it's been raining or too cold to go on the playground. The students have really practiced taking turns with this piece of equipment. \r\n\r\nThe vibrating Lady Bug has been a amazing source of supportive sensory input for several students as well as a transition object to help some student transition between their academic rotations. The weighted blanket has been very supportive for students while sitting in the swing and provided calming input. The moon sand has also provided calming input and hand strengthening opportunities.","fullyFundedDate":1758899228562,"projectUrl":"project/fresh-start-to-be-sensory-smart/9418084/","projectTitle":"Fresh Start to be Sensory Smart!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Domeika","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9920706_orig.jpg?crop=272,272,x0,y72&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1753111707706","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9920706"},{"teacherId":9920706,"projectId":9107609,"letterContent":"This swing stand and swing have given my students the opportunity to take a break after working on their fine motor skills at the table. The new cubbies are already making a big difference-helping our little learners access and put away their table toys independently, encouraging responsibility, and fostering a more creative and calm environment for exploration and play.\r\n\r\nYour donation has done more than purchase furniture—it has helped us create a space where imaginations can bloom and where children can feel empowered in their learning.\r\n\r\nThank you for being part of our community and making a real impact in our classroom.","fullyFundedDate":1746466682987,"projectUrl":"project/organizing-creativity-cubbies-for-presc/9173262/","projectTitle":"Organizing Creativity: Cubbies for Preschool Table Toys","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. LaRose","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9577442_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1721918510358","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9577442"},{"teacherId":9878713,"projectId":9016268,"letterContent":"I cannot begin to express how grateful we are for your generous support of our classroom. Thanks to your contributions, my students were able to experience pure joy and awe as they explored the many new sensory, communication, and learning tools now available to them.\r\n\r\nThe day the packages arrived, my classroom of six autistic kindergarteners lit up with excitement. One student jumped and clapped as we unboxed the Amazon Fire HD tablet, which we now use to access motivating speech-language and literacy apps. Another was mesmerized by the Light-Up Shape Sorter, returning to it throughout the day to explore colors and music. During group time, we use the Circle Time Learning Center to build routine and structure - with visuals, songs, and movement that promote engagement and expressive communication.\r\n\r\nSensory items like the galaxy projector, chewy necklaces, breathing ball, and tactile mats have been game-changers in supporting regulation and transitions. One particularly powerful moment came when a student who usually struggles to engage independently used a plush toy from the Surprise Box to initiate a game of \"peek-a-boo\" - marking a huge step in social connection and spontaneous interaction.\r\n\r\n\r\nWe've incorporated the Mystery Box and recordable buzzers into our \"what's inside?\" guessing game, which supports AAC use, vocabulary expansion, and joint attention. The storage containers and display shelves are helping us rotate and organize materials to reduce visual overwhelm while keeping things accessible and inviting.\r\n\r\nNext, we're building out a visual-supported play center using the new magnetic shelves and behavior keyrings to model flexible routines and support transitions between activities. The bubble machine is waiting in the wings for our end-of-year celebration - a sensory-friendly way to celebrate growth and joy.\r\n\r\nThank you for giving our students the chance to explore, communicate, and learn in ways that truly meet their unique needs. Your generosity has brought not just materials - but confidence, connection, and opportunity - into our space.","fullyFundedDate":1740752532639,"projectUrl":"project/help-kindergarteners-learn-communicate/9016268/","projectTitle":"Help Kindergarteners Learn, Communicate, and Grow!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Milkas","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-7_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9878713"},{"teacherId":9880890,"projectId":9016125,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous support in bringing wobble stools into our classroom! These stools have quickly become an essential part of our daily routine, and I wanted to share just how much of a difference they are making for my students.\r\n\r\nWe use the wobble stools throughout the day during a variety of activities. One of the students' favorite times to use them is during circle time — having the ability to move slightly while seated helps keep them engaged and focused during lessons and discussions. The gentle movement allows them to channel their energy in a positive way, which has significantly improved attention and participation.\r\n\r\nBeyond circle time, the stools have become a fantastic tool for sensory regulation. Many of my students enjoy using them not just for sitting, but also as a way to roll and move during sensory breaks in the middle of the day. These moments help them release extra energy and support their bodies in integrating sensory input, which is incredibly important for their overall regulation and learning readiness. It's been amazing to see how naturally the students have incorporated the stools into their self-regulation routines.\r\n\r\nWhen the stools first arrived, the excitement in the classroom was immediate! The students were curious, eager, and couldn't wait to try them out. Their smiles and laughter as they explored different ways to use the stools were priceless.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, we continue to build on lessons that support sensory integration and self-regulation. The wobble stools are now a key part of these activities, helping students remain calm, focused, and ready to learn as we work through academic and social-emotional goals.\r\n\r\nThank you again for making this possible. Your contribution has truly had a meaningful impact on my students' daily experiences and their ability to succeed.","fullyFundedDate":1740752532342,"projectUrl":"project/bronx-non-verbal-kindergartners-level-3/9016125/","projectTitle":"Bronx Non Verbal Kindergartners: Level 3 Autism Need Help Regulating","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Flora","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9880890_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1735413825568","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9880890"},{"teacherId":9878713,"projectId":9012961,"letterContent":"Our class was beyond excited when we unboxed the new materials! Since our students thrive on hands-on, multi-sensory learning, these resources have already made a meaningful impact. One of the biggest highlights was introducing the Magnetic Tiles, which immediately encouraged collaborative play, problem-solving, and creativity. The students have loved build towers and enclosures, narrating their play and using core vocabulary words like \"up,\" \"more,\" and \"help\" on their AAC devices and visual core boards.\r\nThe Sensory Fidget Tubes and Rainbow Pom Balls have been especially helpful in supporting regulation and engagement. During transitions, several students have started independently using the fidget tubes to calm and focus, demonstrating emerging self-advocacy skills. Meanwhile, the Lakeshore Wobble Chair has provided much-needed movement input for a student who benefits from dynamic seating, helping them stay engaged during structured activities.\r\nAnother favorite is the Melissa & Doug Latch Board and Rescue Garage. Students LOVE eagerly trying different locks and keys, working on turn-taking, requesting, and problem-solving. The Lakeshore Translucent Letters have helped students to explore letters on the light table while engaging in hands-on phonics practice. \r\nThese materials have already enriched our classroom in so many ways, fostering independence, engagement, and meaningful learning experiences.
