This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Too often, students create a negative relationship to reading when they are unable to read in school books that they can relate to. The traditional material read in school often does not connect to who they are, their background, or where they have been.

My students love to learn, they are curious, they are reflective, and consistently question how to make the world, this world, a better place.

My students are intelligent and are eager to read literature that represents them!

My Project

My students will read from authors whose work resembles their identities and their experiences. By contributing to our project, you are funding an opportunity for students to develop a positive relationship between reading and themselves.

Students will learn symbolism, foreshadowing, voice, and other literary devices that will help as they develop their voice as readers and writers!

We will closely read, analyze, and critique how the author brings to life her characters and how it or if it relates to our world. This work will touch on familiar and relevant experiences and others we could not or have not imagined.
