My Students

I teach seventh and eighth graders in a portable classroom trailer in Northern Utah. Covid has created a lot of learning gaps from students missing school in chunks and I hope to be able to bridge that gap and fill in missing concepts and provide resources for students at home so they can stay caught up on their learning.

My Project

I teach in a portable classroom it’s like a trailer basically. The ceilings are too low in the portable that I’m not able to have a SmartBoard or a short throw projector. Also because of the portable the Internet, the Wi-Fi is not reliable at all. We use chrome books and the Internet is very spotty we get kicked off often. So when I’ve tried to live stream my lessons for students on a WebCam, Students that are at home sick or quarantined with Covid, it doesn’t work out. Another way to record lessons without using Wi-Fi is to write them out on an iPad and save them as a video file and then upload them to a website or Google classroom or canvas later. This is why I’m asking for an iPad for my project. So that I’ll be able to work out mathematics examples for the students and save the videos and not only will my virtual learning students have access to them but my regular Ed students that are in the classroom can also re-watch examples as they need extra practice on their homework or other students that are absent for other reasons. The iPad will also enhance our learning in the classroom in other ways as I’ll be able to write and walk around the room which will be great for classroom management.
