Scholars at Magoffin Middle School are self-driven and motivated to learn; however, students need a fun, and more creative way of learning in order to develop critical thinking and team-building skills. We are located in a low, socio-economic class class neighborhood where majority are single parent homes and many are blue collar families that sustain their families from paycheck to paycheck.
The economically-disadvantaged population at our campus is 90% and above.
Our campus provides several ways to support the diverse needs of all our scholars. My students are eager to succeed, staying in extra hours to better themselves. They enjoy working in collaboration, but the math games are becoming repetitive. Therefore, my scholars need a better way of staying engaged in their studies. I am requesting Breakout EDU kits to enhance their learning and have fun as they excel in all academics. The Breakout EDU kits will provide them with an engaging and exciting way to learn new skills and have a great time doing so.
I want to create a learning environment that not only requires my scholars to write and solve problems from a textbook; but more problem-based learning. The kits will provide them with the opportunity to get out of their seats and collaborate in order to solve tasks related to their math concepts.
The kits will provide the scholars with a way to develop relationships within their groups in order to ensure they are able to complete the tasks, solving math problems, to break the codes an open the kits.
The breakout kits will help my students apply collaboration, critical thinking skills, team-building skills, and respect towards each other's work and input. This will help our scholars grow not only academically, but socially.
