Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

The thing that I love about my students is that they are resilient. Some of them have horrible things by the age of 11. But they are smart, and they capture things so easily. They are excited about new things like gardening and healthy habits, and ways to help their families be healthy and happy. Soaker hoses, Miracle-Gro grow, and sprinklers give kids the opportunity to learn how to be responsible with resources like water and gardening tools to make the space where they are at better. Items that make my clinic feel more like home, and items for our outdoor learning. Space will give the students a safe place to fully be themselves and feel safe and comfortable to explore new things.

Within my clinic, I want to add rugs, an Echo Dot (for soft rain sounds or music), blankets, and healthy, happy decor in order for it to feel like a safe space where kids can share and be medically healthy and happy.

Items such as mints, peanut butter crackers, and ginger ale keep children’s bodies nourished and stomach aches at bay, so they can stay in a happy, healthy environment, learning here at school. Child-size step stool, child push-button lights, and child-size cups give children the opportunity for children to have a taste of independence with their health while being supervised by a licensed adult. And lastly, stickers help us celebrate the big milestones happening in a small child’s life. I’ve seen stickers and tooth cases cure tummy aches or heal recently pulled teeth instantly!! Cotton balls, ice packs, and gallon bags are for our injured little ones.

Here they are in a safe space where they are loved and not only physically nourished and cared for, but mentally and spiritually nourished as well.
