Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

We are trying to get an iPad, a tripod, and a mini microphone set to enhance the learning activities with the kids. As an educator, I am trying to create different ways to engage the children and have them learn in fun and creative ways.

The kids have spent some time learning history and engaged in the events they have learned about by preparing news skits and doing mini news flash to explain key points to their peers of what they learned in the week’s curriculum.

It has been one of the creative tools that I have used with my students and I see this has helped them retain the information. It has helped encourage their creativity, thinking outside the box, but also think about their community.

While doing the mini news briefs, I see them emulate the people they see on their local news channels and try to express themselves in a way they shine. It is helping bring some kids out of their comfort zones and has helped them evolve in ways I never expected.

I would like to be able to have them be able to see the difference in themselves the way I have and have them create this as a core memory for them to maybe one day be a person we see in the local or national news or maybe they can be the next documentary filmmaker that explores the untouched jungles of some far-off country.

If my students can get help in receiving the iPad, tripod, and microphone, they will be able to start performing and creating their news skits to share with their classmates and the school. They would be able to see what I see in themselves and be encouraged to become a great asset in society.
