This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I teach kindergarten in a Title I Philadelphia public school and currently have 30 students assigned to my classroom. These excited young learners are filled with endless energy and are always ready to learn and discover new things. My families are absolutely wonderful but many are struggling to provide food on the table.
My Project
With the current pandemic crisis, many families are struggling to buy basic food items to feed their families. This project would take the burden off of them having to provide breakfast and a snack for their child as we meet together during the school day. We will begin each day with a community breakfast and end for the day with snack time. This is a wonderful time for them to build relationships with their peers. This project will provide weekly breakfast and snack for every child so that no one feels left out.
