My Students

The students of our school come from diverse backgrounds. We have a high rate of free and reduced-price lunch. Our students are eager to learn and are generally well behaved. Our school population is right around 550 students. We have a very loving and caring atmosphere that I believe makes our students feel comfortable.

In the visual arts classroom, I provide a very important component in our students' academic learning.

By integrating many subjects within the art room, students recognize natural, relevant connections to what they are learning about, have learned about or will learn about.

My Project

Break out will allow my students opportunities to solve puzzles and explore ways to work together as they find and solve clues to open locks, unveiling new clues to unlock additional locks and eventually solve the big puzzle. It is a fun and exciting way to utilize creative problem solving and critical thinking.

I participated a workshop on these boxes, experiencing first hand how engaging and exciting it was to work with my team to compete against another team to solve the puzzles and open the box first.

I can see how this tool will expand their ability to work as a team, stay focused, be highly engaged and work diligently to get to the final solution locked in the box.
