The students of our school come from diverse backgrounds. We have a high rate of free and reduced-price lunch. Our students are eager to learn and are generally well behaved. Our school population is right around 550 students. We have a very loving and caring atmosphere that I believe makes our students feel comfortable trying new things.
In the visual arts classroom, I provide a very important component in our students' academic learning.
By integrating many subjects within the art room, students recognize natural, relevant connections to what they are learning about, have learned about or will learn about.
My Project
Break out EDU will allow my students opportunities to solve puzzles and explore ways to work toigether as they find clues and solve them to open a variety of locks. Each lock reveals another clue until the final lock is left to be opened allowing styudents to see what they were trying to get out of the box. It is a fun, exciting way to use crtical and creative thinking skills as well as cooperative learning.
I participated in a workshop experincing first hand how engaging this was,to work with my team to try to beat the other as we tried to get each lock unlocked to revael what was inside the last box.
It is clear that this project will enable students to see the importance of working together, staying focused and thinking diligently to find the final solution to get into the box.
