Brand New Teacher, Brand New Class, Brand New Supplies!
My students need the 11x17 inch paper for when they make posters. The Crayola colored pencil and marker sets are important as well for labeling and coloring projects. The glue sticks are integral to our activities.
My students are whip smart, resoundingly curious, and unendingly creative. School has not even been in session for a week and we have already been drawing and coloring and labeling to help us learn the standards in Environmental Science and Oceanography.
When my students walk into my classroom, I want them to feel as if they are home.
New Hampstead High School feels like a family and all of my students are my little brothers and sisters; this is my first year teaching and I already feel like I belong here.
My Project
These materials will make a difference in my students' lives because it will give them the opportunity to focus on their classwork without worrying about how they are going to get their materials. Currently, everything I have is either begged or borrowed (or purchased with my own money). A lot of the materials we use for projects are consumables, like paper or glue. Sharing 5 glue sticks with over 30 students is frustrating for me and for them. They just want to learn!
As a new teacher, these supplies are the fundamental building blocks of my classroom.
If everyone has access to their own supplies we'll be able to focus on what's really important: science.
