My 5th-grade students represent a very culturally diverse population. Their parents are vested in their children's education and our students are dedicated to the hard work and effort that is needed to succeed now and in the future.
As a STEAM Academy, science, technology, engineering, the arts, and mathematics are at the core of everything that we do.
My classroom is a place where I work hard to keep a calm, organized and inviting environment with access to the resources my students need to succeed. My students love to learn new things and use technology in the classroom. We are fortunate that we have one-to-one laptops in our school which allow us to incorporate technology in all subjects.
My Project
We would like to incorporate the Engineering is Elementary Kit Bubble Bonanza as a fun end of the fifth-grade activity. The students will explore how bubbles behave and investigate the properties of different materials as they engineer all kinds of bubble wands. The unit wraps up with a Bubble Bonanza Showcase where kids demonstrate their creations. This will be a fun and exciting wrap up to our new Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics units this year and give the students another hands-on experience with the design process: Ask, Imagine, Plan, Create and Improve. We think the students will create something amazing!
