Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students are amazing, intelligent four- to five-year-olds who are creative and curious about the world around them. They are part of a two-year program called Transitional Kindergarten. They attend a low, income inner city school with 100% of our students receiving free and reduced lunch.

My class is comprised of a high level English Language Learners; we have different cultures and backgrounds.

We also have 6 students receiving special education services.

My students love to be challenged SO let the mental effort begin at the tender age of five to be more prepared for kindergarten and for the world's complex problems. I plan to create Thinking Centers, parent-child activity homework packets, and class challenges with all the resources to help build high level thinkers. All these activities require students to build stamina when confronted with a problem to solve, and also build their confidence when it is accomplished. Young children need to be put in productive struggle situations to bild character and mental strength.
