My Students

Our school is located in a high-poverty, rural community. Our students love hands-on activities. They are very energetic and need to get up and get moving on a daily basis. As a teacher in a low-income district, where many of our children live in single-parent households and receive a free or reduced-price lunch, it is imperative to try to provide the best experiences for my students in the classroom as well as out of the classroom.

Since our students are young learners, we try and make our classroom as warm and welcoming as possible and also provide a very rigorous learning environment for them.

We want each and every one of them to have the best educational advantage a young learner can possibly have. The students live in a digital world and thrive with hands-on activities. Traditional teaching does not work anymore. Students are energetic and need to get up and get moving throughout the school day. Creating environments to be able to meet all the needs of students, in a variety of ways, is crucial for our students to master concepts and be successful.

My Project

I am a believer that learning should be as fun and engaging as possible. The students do not like doing worksheets day in and day out, who would? I would love for the kids to do interactive educational activities on Brain POP and BrainPOP Jr. Information can be more effectively processed when presented in multiple ways such as with pictures, sounds, AND words. BrainPOP Jr is a website that engages students in all subjects including social studies, math, reading comprehension, and writing. They are taught through the use of videos, games, fun quizzes, and so much more. These tools are so engaging and fun! I will utilize this website with my in person students, as well as, my virtual students. This website will benefit all of my K-4 students across 3 buildings.
