Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are 7th and 8th graders at a dual-language school in a large city in Massachusetts. My students have been taught in both English and Spanish since kindergarten. They are very thoughtful and constantly diving into learning while taking on leadership in the classroom.
They love to explore new ideas, cultures, and concepts each and every day.
I am lucky to explore with them through my humanities course. They are a wonderful group of students that see their individual success wrapped up in the success of others in the class. They work together and are extremely compassionate.
My Project
My students often come to school hungry. Sometimes they do not have a big enough breakfast or they just need an extra snack to keep them going. They are growing before my eyes. I want them to have access to healthy protein and granola bars and enough snacks to keep them going throughout the day.
My students are eager to learn when they are well-fed!
Providing them with access to substantial protein and energy will ensure their success throughout the day. In addition, many of my students play soccer after school. Starting them off on the right path with allow them to store energy for their after school activities as well.
We are all incredibly grateful for your support of all of our students! Thank you so much in advance for helping students by providing them direct and immediate access to food throughout their school day.
