My Students
I am 1st Grade Teacher at our school. We are located in the heart of the Flathead Indian Reservation in majestic Montana.
My students are playful, kind and eager to learn, but this is challenging to do with hungry tummies. Majority of our area is considered low income and in many cases students are left feeling hungry. This could help us fill that need and happily get back to our academics.
My Project
These snacks and treats will help is get our brains moving. I have noticed an amazing difference in engagement when students get an afternoon snack. It’s the best way to get bellies satisfied and our brains back on track to continue on our rigorous learning journey. We come from an extremely high poverty area where all students receive free lunches. Any additional food we can get in their tummies before the end of the day is very beneficial. This project will be benefitting three first grade classrooms, about 60 students.
