Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are 7th and 8th graders at a dual-language school in Boston. My students have been taught in both English and Spanish since kindergarten. They are very thoughtful and constantly diving into learning while taking on leadership in the classroom.
They love to explore new ideas, cultures, and concepts each and every day.
I am lucky to explore with them through my humanities course. They are a wonderful group of students that see their individual success wrapped up in the success of others in the class. They work together and are extremely compassionate.
My Project
We are about to enter an intense month of MCAS testing at our school. While some parents are able to pack an extra snack for their child during this time, we want to ensure that all students will have access to extra food while their brains are in overdrive. We think this might also help prevent added stress or frustration.
I am fundraising for all students taking the MCAS in grades 3-8 to have access to extra food in the coming month.
I am also requesting more bandaids, children's Tylenol and cough drops for our school nurse.
These supplies will ensure that all students can continue their day with more comfort and ease and hopefully allow for the needed focus on the difficult tasks at hand. We are all incredibly grateful for your support of our students!
