Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students come from a tough life outside of school. For many, school is the only stability they have and they crave the structure of school. The students are very resourceful and strive to do the very best they can
Our school is a Title 1 school where more than 90% of the students are eligible for free lunch!
A lot of students don't have access to the resources they need everyday. Despite all of their challenges in life, the students show up to school everyday and ready to learn.
My Project
Many of my students face hunger and worry about where their next meal will come from. No child should ever worry about being hungry. In a school where over 90% of students qualify for free or reduced lunch, not everyone can afford to bring a snack. The days are long and lunches provided in the school are not big enough to keep the students full all day. This project will provide snacks to my students or any other students in the school that are hungry. Students can also take home a few snacks for the weekend where they don't always have access to food.
