This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

The girl's volleyball program at our school has been through a myriad of coaches the past few years, and our equipment is in disarray. I stepped onto the court at our school to rebuild a program that has great, hardworking players that are eager to get better. We are a Title I school, and do not have the funds in the community to have basic practice equipment, for a functioning, much less successful, program. My players deserve the chance to learn the game, grow and become the best possible student-athletes they can be.

More NFHS-certified volleyballs will give our girls more opportunities to improve, by using the proper equipment.

Currently, our program has more female athletes than balls that can be used in an official match. This means girls have to wait to during practice to get a chance to use the type of balls they will use in a game. All the others are left using old, tarnished, and noncompliant volleyballs in practice.
