Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I teach ten sweet, loving and energetic students in a self contained disabilities classroom. My students face challenges from the very moment they wake up in the morning. I work with special needs students whose disabilities range from emotional/behavioral disabilities, down syndrome, learning disabilities and autism. Despite the challenges they face daily, these students are unique and wonderful in their own ways. Some of my students need to move frequently. Jumping on a trampoline helps people with autism, sensory issues and special needs to tackle anxiety and relieve stress.

The trampoline will be used to help my students remain calm and allow them to learn to use calming techniques when they are overwhelmed.

I am in my 2nd year of teaching special education. I am still in need of classroom supplies to help my students. Having a trampoline and sensory mats in our classroom will allow my students to jump on either of them to self regulate and help them to get back to learning.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
