I absolutely love the energy and creativity that my ten year old students bring into our classroom every single day. They are full of passion, they love to learn, and they love coming to school. My students come to school from all backgrounds, all cultures, and from all family situations.

My Project
My students love to be active! They love to sit on the floor, stand up around the room, or sit on our wiggle cushions... any place that allows them to move. Sitting at a desk isn't always fun, but sometimes it is the necessary place to focus on our work. When I asked what my students wanted most this year for our classroom, they begged me to purchase these Bouncy Bands for their desks so they could continue to move their legs during work time.
Having an entire class set of these Bouncy Bands would mean every student would have the opportunity to move and groove their way through their learning every single day of our school year.
How do Bouncy Bands work? They consist of a thick rubber band that allows my students to prop their feet up under their desk, and swing them back and forth when needed... without distracting other students around them. Research shows that ten year olds cannot easily sit still for more than fifteen minutes, but with these Bouncy Bands, my students wouldn't have to.
My class was able to try a Bouncy Band in our classroom and my students noticed the difference right away. When I asked for their feedback, my students said they loved being able to use them and that they could concentrate better. I also saw an immediate difference. Students weren't fidgeting during lessons, they were able focus on their work. Their legs were swinging on the band constantly! I would love for my entire class to have the daily opportunity these bands would provide.
